[Preliminary Entry] The Līlāvatī, the first section of the Siddhāntaśiromaṇiḥ, is a Sanskrit treatise on arithmetic and geometry composed by Bhāskara in the twelfth century. The Līlāvatī was translated into Persian in 995/1587 at the request of the Mughal emperor Akbar (r. 1556-1605). The translation was realised by Fayżī (d. 1004/1595) the poet laureate of Akbar’s court.
