[Preliminary Entry] The Ġarīb-i hind was compiled in 1271/1854 at the request of Ġulāb Singh (r. 1846-1857) the maharaja of the princely state of Kashmir and Jammu. It is a treatise on Indian geography, languages and other matters. It was written by Ġulām Dāwud who was a secretary of Ġulāb Singh.
