Mīdnī Mal ibn Dhārma Narāyāṇ,
Badā’i‘-i funūn
[Preliminary Entry] The Badā’i‘-i funūn is a treatise on arithmetic chiefly based on Bhāskara’s Līlāvatī and divided into nine or ten chapters (bāb). It was written in 1074/1663-4 at Etawah (Uttar Pradesh) by the Hindu scholar MīdnīMal ibn Dhārma Narāyāṇ. In a copy preserved in London (Ethé 1903, c. 1233) the work is dedicated to the Mughal emperor Awrangzēb (r. 1658-1707) but apparently not in other copies.
